"I long so much to make beautiful things.
But beautiful things require effort — and disappointment and perseverance."
Vincent van Gogh
Michael Weller and I would like to announce that we are closing our Old Town Alexandria studio at the end of this season. For the past 16 years we have successfully worked together providing you with the finest of repair and restoration services. Now it is time for us to move on to the next phases of our careers.
My new shop will be dedicated almost exclusively to the production of new bows. I am at the height of my
skills, have a good stock of rare woods and I am now making some of the
most beautiful bows of my career. I'm fortunate to have a wide following of those who seek my work and I look forward to producing even more. As always your commissions are greatly welcomed.
I will also be producing a new edition of The Red Book Auction Guide to be published later this year. The past three editions have sold in more than 30 countries!
In addition I have a patent pending
on a new tool for the rehair community that is ready to go into production. I'm excited about it but still have much work to do.
This is the time in my career where I want to concentrate uninterrupted on the artistry of my craft away from the distractions of a public business. I will continue to do bow rehairs and restorations but only on a very limited
basis. Details will come later this summer after I settle into a new work rhythm.. Check my website for future updates.
know that I am extremely grateful to all of my customers who have
entrusted their bows to me throughout the past 40 years of my career.
I could not have imagined working with a finer group of wonderful,
talented and dedicated musicians. From rank beginners to renown solo artists you have all
been a pleasure to work for. To bring beauty into the world as you do is an
important task. It is your legacy to our culture. It is because
of you that I have become the craftsman that I am. Thank you!
But wait, we haven't moved yet. Come see us soon!
Last day - Friday, May 19th.
Wednesday ~ Friday 9:00 to 5:00
Tuesday by appointment only for drop off or pick up.

meaner, iller, poorer I get, the more I wish to take my revenge by doing
brilliant color, well arranged, resplendent."
